Current affairs of telangana tops civil prelims 2016-17
Hyderabad: The Civil Services (Preliminary)-2016
examination held on Sunday tested the candidates’ grasp of current
affairs, especially the schemes and initiatives launched by the BJP-led
NDA government at the Centre in the last two years. The preliminary exam
was a shade tough compared to last year.
Some of the programmes that found a place in the question paper are Standup India, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bhima Yoja, Mission Indradhanush, Green India Mission, Ease of Doing Business Index etc.
Most of the questions were from current affairs and not from core subjects this year, according to IAS coaching expert Gopala Krishna.
“First timers will find the paper a little bit tough. They would have concentrated on core subjects. On the other hand, candidates who are appearing for the second time or more than that would have been better prepared on current affairs,” he said.
In Telangana the examination was held in Hyderabad and Warangal. Out of the 59,756 candidates that applied, 25,875 took the exam on Sunday. It was conducted in 100 centres in Hyderabad and 23 centres in Warangal. Hyderabad collector Rahul Bojja, who is the in-charge for Hyderabad visited PG College, Saifabad, and supervised arrangements.
The examination was conducted in two sessions (Paper-1 from 9.30 to 11.30 am) and Paper-2 from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.
The examination was of objective type with multiple choice questions. Paper- I comprised General Knowledge referred to as General Studies and encompassed almost all subjects. Paper-II, popularly called CSAT, comprised questions on aptitude and was a qualifying paper where a candidate has to score at least 33 per cent.
